Here's the cast for the Naples Players production of "The Drowsy Chaperone." Debi Guthery told us back in October that she wanted to play the title role - and she got it.
Guthery will re-team with several members of the completely sold-out 2012 spring musical "Hello, Dolly!" Elizabeth Marcantonio will play Janet, along with semi-professional actor Jim Heffernan as the "Man in Chair." Other faces from "Dolly" returning as part of the ensemble include Jake Hanson, Joyce Austin, Gaston Edmond, Jacob Hartman, Joe Loiacono, Megan Ruhl and Paula Mercer.
The same creative team from "Dolly!" "Producers" and "Les Miserables" returns. Dallas Dunnagan will direct, with choreography by Dawn Lebrecht Fornara and musical direction by Charles Fornara.
"The Drowsy Chaperone" runs March 5 - April 5, 2014 at the Naples Players. Tickets are $40. Call (239) 263-7990 or naplesplayers.org.

Winner of 5 Tony Awards, this delightful musical confection begins when a die-hard musical fanatic tries to ease his blues by playing his favorite 1920’s cast album of The Drowsy Chaperone. The show soon bursts to life in his living room telling the story of a Broadway starlet who wants to leave it all behind for love. This show-within-a-show is complete with comic vaudeville gangsters, mistaken identities, rousing anthems, dream sequences and whole lot of spit-takes resulting in a riotous parody of 1920’s screwball comedy.
The show will be performed Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $40 for adults and $10 for students 21 and under, and can be purchased at the box office, by calling 239.263.7990 with credit card information, or by visiting naplesplayers.org. Sugden Community Theatre is located at 701 5th Avenue South in downtown Naples.
