FGCU Center for the Arts opens school's first musical "Pippin" on Oct. 3

Can't afford a ticket to New York to see the high-flying revival of "Pippin" that scooped the Tony for Best Revival this year? Stop in to FGCU and catch their first-ever musical!

"Pippin," directed by Dominic Missimi, the founder of Northwestern University’s musical theatre program, will run October 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 at 7:30 p.m. with matinĂ©e performances on October 12 & 13 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $7 and available at http://theatrelab.fgcu.edu.

FGCU theatre professor Gerritt VanderMeer, a professional actor who starred in TheatreZone's "Grand Hotel" and "Next to Normal," will feature as the "Leading Player." Troy Jones from FGCU's Bower School of Music will provide music direction.

"Pippin" features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked), and a book by Roger O. Hirson. The musical is the classic story, loosely based on historical figures, about a prince (Pippin) and his journey to find meaning and his self-identity.

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University’s Center for the Arts invites the public to the opening of “Pippin,” Thursday, October 3-6, and Friday, October 11-13, 2013, at the FGCU Black Box theatre located in the Arts Complex.  

     Evening performances are October 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 at 7:30 p.m., and matinee performances are October 12, 13 at 2 p.m.

 Pippin is a beloved musical by Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson, that is currently enjoying a run on Broadway and won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Revival!
