AUDITION: "The Drowsy Chaperone" at the Naples Players

The Naples Players will hold auditions for spring musical "The Drowsy Chaperone" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9 and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Auditions, at Sugden Community Theatre, are by appointment only. This show calls for seven principal men, ages 25-60, one principal man, (speaking role) age 30-60, and five principal women, ages 25-60. Rehearsal begins January 13. Performance dates are March 5 through April 5, 2014.  The show will be directed by Dallas Dunnagan, with choreography by Dawn Lebrecht Fornara and musical direction by Charles Fornara.

The Naples Players to Host Auditions for The Drowsy Chaperone
NAPLES, FL- The Naples Players will hold auditions for The Drowsy Chaperone on Monday, December 9 starting at 7:30 pm and Tuesday, December 10 starting at 6 pm by appointment at Sugden Community Theatre, 701 5th Avenue South.
                  This play calls for seven principal men, ages 25-60, one principal man, (speaking role) age 30-60, and five principal women, ages 25-60. Rehearsal begins January 13. Preview night is March 4. Performance dates are March 5 through April 5, 2014.  The show will be directed by Dallas Dunnagan, choreographed by Dawn Lebrecht Fornara and musical direction by Charles Fornara.
                  Those auditioning should be prepared to sing 32 bars of a song. An accompanist will be provided or you may bring a recording without vocals if sheet music is not available. The Naples Players also has a small library of show tunes that may be perused during business hours, from 9 am to 4 pm. in the administrative offices.  Those auditioning will also be asked to learn a choreographed movement or dance routine. Scripts are available at the box office for 72 hours perusal with a $20 deposit and are available to read up to one month in advance. Call the box office, 263-7990, to check availability.
                  Winner of 5 Tony Awards, this delightful musical confection begins when a die-hard musical fanatic tries to ease his blues by playing his favorite 1920’s cast album of The Drowsy Chaperone. The show soon bursts to life in his living room telling the story of a Broadway starlet who wants to leave it all behind for love. This show-within-a-show is complete with comic vaudeville gangsters, mistaken identities, rousing anthems, dream sequences and whole lot of spit-takes resulting in a riotous parody of 1920’s screwball comedy.
            The Naples Players’ auditions are open to all interested persons, regardless of age, race or experience.
