Devilishly Funny Comedy, MY THREE ANGELS, Onstage for the Holidays!
Florida Rep is pleased to announce the opening of My Three Angels by Sam and Bella Spewack, a devilishly funny holiday comedy made famous by the 1955 film, We're No Angels, starring Humphrey Bogart.
This hilarious and touching story is perfect for the whole family and plays in the Historic Arcade Theatre Dec. 6-22 with four nearly sold out preview performances on Dec. 3-5.
"This play is one of the truly great Christmas plays out there," said Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo, "it has romance, drama, big laughs, and a happy ending. I really hope you'll join us for a truly special play that will warm your heart at the holidays."
In My Three Angels it is Christmas Eve in the tropics—where it's 105 degrees in the shade—and things are not going well for Felix Ducotel and his family. Felix's business is floundering, his daughter has been passed over for a wealthier woman, his cousin is on his way from France with a sinister plot, and the roof is leaking! Just in the nick of time, three hardened criminals descend from above (where they were working on the leaky roof) and take matters into their own hands. Using their brilliant criminal minds, these three unlikely angels patch up more than the roof!
My Three Angels features an all-star cast of Florida Rep ensemble members and audience favorites including Mark Chambers (The Fantasticks), Carrie Lund (Social Security), and Peter Thomasson (The Little Foxes), as well as Fort Myers’ own Downtown Diva, Stephanie Davis. The cast also features three of Florida Rep’s acting interns, Ashley Anderson, Jacob D. Guinn, and Jake Scott Hodes.
Starring as the three unlikely angels are Graham Smith, Michael Edwards, and Joel Reuben Ganz. Smith is a regional theatre veteran who appeared as Henry Ford in last season’s Camping with Henry and Tom. Both Edwards and Ganz make their Florida Rep debut in My Three Angels. Edwards comes to Florida Rep from Orlando, and has been on stages throughout the state of Florida and the southeastern United States. Mr. Ganz, an actor out of New York, just finished a two-year run on Broadway in the five-time Tony-winning epic, War Horse.
Florida Rep Associate Artistic Director, Chris Clavelli (Collected Stories), directs the play, and is joined by an expert team of designers including set designer, Bruce R. Bailey (The Devil’s Music), lighting designer, Todd O. Wren (Other Desert Cities), resident costume designer, Roberta Malcolm (Social Security), sound designer, Kate Smith (Educating Rita), production stage manager, Audrey M. Brown (The Santaland Diaries).
My Three Angels by Sam and Bella Spewack plays Dec. 6 – 22, with four nearly sold out preview performances on December 3 through 5. Regular performances are Tues. – Sat. at 8pm, with matinees on Wed., Sun., and selected Saturdays at 2pm.
My Three Angels is generously sponsored by Madeleine Taeni and ‘Tween Waters Inn Island Resort.
